Dr. Rebecca Bensfield holds her doctorate in Clinical Psychology, is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, providing Telehealth services and based in the Chicagoland area.  Dr. Bensfield earned multiple certifications in trauma studies; and is well equipped to treat a variety of clinical issues such as depression anxiety, relationship issues, life phase transitions/adjustments, and parenting strategies (e.g., anxiety, sleep, aggression, non-compliance and ADHD). 

Dr. Bensfield received her MA in clinical psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2007, and her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The Professional School of Clinical Psychology, Argosy University in 2016. She has been working in the field of mental health since 2002, and over the past 20+ years has worked in a variety of settings. Dr. Bensfield held positions on in-patient psychiatric units, sexual assault centers, parochial schools, community mental health centers, group practices, and now private practice. She has worked with a diverse population ranging across the lifespan from children to geriatrics, providing individual, family, and couples therapy. 

Dr. Bensfield utilizes a person-centered/integrative approach to help clients understand how the choices they make impact their sense of self, their ways of interacting in relationships and the way they view the world. Collaboratively, Dr. Bensfield helps clients recognize the ways their life experiences have shaped their attitudes, beliefs and choices. She uses cognitive, behavioral, narrative, and art based approaches, to help clients grow and heal from experiences that are impacting their ability to be the healthiest version of themselves. Dr. Bensfield provides an open and safe (online) environment that is tailored to each person’s needs in order to find solutions that will make meaningful differences in her client’s life. Clients will learn to understand how their symptoms developed and how to use their choice and voice to make life more tolerable/manageable. One of Dr. Bensfield’s main goals is for clients to leave session with a plan to try some new ways of thinking and responding to life experiences.
